The PIN code on your iPhone is a first block prying eyes, if you leave your iPhone somewhere lying around. But the method is not entirely safe, as it appeared several times in the history of the iPhone. Forbes has now published a video of Micro Systemation, a Swedish company that sells for easy access to telephones of suspects. They sell their solution called XRY to law enforcement and defense establishments.
The solution looks like a jailbreak hack, although the company would not say exactly what vulnerability they use to gain access to the iPhone. It is not about loopholes, but vulnerabilities in software of a phone, just like jailbreak developers do. The company has 75 full time employees who are engaged in research. They will focus not only on iPhones. Every week a new phone with another operating system. Therefore there is a cat and mouse game developed between the producers and the company. A PIN code helps if you leave your iPhone in a taxi down and prevents the driver from your private data will scroll (the chance of that is very large, pale from last survey). But you'll be nabbed by the police and your iPhone is then seized, then any evidence to identify them quickly.
XRY is used in over 60 countries for iPhone and Android devices, including 98 percent of the British police districts and the FBI. The U.S. military is the largest customer.
