HTC has launched a new Android phone. Android is Linux-based mobile operating system developed by Google, and has so far only been found in one phone, the HTC G1. The new phone named HTC Magic and will be sold through operator Vodafone.

One of the biggest differences from G1, is that Magic does not have a physical keyboard. It is thus somewhat thinner than the G1. Otherwise, the two phones are specified quite similar. This means that the Magic has a 3.2 inch touch screen, super-3G and Wi-Fi for fast internet access and GPS navigation.

The camera on the back of the phone takes pictures of 3.2 megapixel resolution, and does - in contrast to the G1 - the video.
There is support for e-mail via both Gmail, IMAP and POP3. You can also chat with Google Talk. Magic has an output of 3.5 mm mini jack so you can connect your own headset with no transition.
Battery life is rated at 7.5 hours talk on GSM network and 6.6 hours in 3G network.
The price is not known, but it is certain that the Magic are not going to Norway. It will be sold through operator Vodafone in the UK, Spain, Germany and France.
The phone leaked the rest out in advance of the show. There was also an Android mobile phone known as the "Hero". It is believed that the "Hero" is HTC's Android phone for the markets they have entered into agreements with operators, and that this phone will show up in Norway. It is likely that the specifications are the same as the Magic.
