Facebook is changing radically! Besides the changes to the home page and newsfeed ( lists , subscribe buttons , and more), is the world's largest social networking site now with a totally new profile called Timeline. In fact, the new profile a list of 'your life on Facebook, which is in control of the user.
The new profile: the Timeline
The new Facebook profile, you can show more of yourself than you status updates from the past day, week or month (depending on how much you use Facebook). It starts with a big picture that you or your character best describes. You can continue a more complete picture of yourself to show, by including updates, photos and movies of the past months and years to give a place in your timeline. Your timeline includes the highlights of your life. The user decides what those highlights. Your profile is really a calling card. The Timeline will be rolled out worldwide in the coming weeks.
Apps
You can also start using a new kind of apps, such as a muzieklijstapp, blogpostapp, a fotoapp, a receptenapp and much more. The apps automatically update your profile page, whenever you post something relevant. Users can authorize these apps to automatically post information to the news feed and the profile (the Timeline). A selection of new apps:
Spotify: While listening to music on Spotify, Timeline will show you which tracks you listen, what albums you hear most often, the playlists and artists.
Netflix: Discover new films to see which movies your friends. If Netflix Friends have committed to their timeline, you can see which movies are currently viewing. So it is easier for new comedies, documentaries, foreign films and obscure films through your friends to discover themselves and then to go see.
Foodily. If you store recipes, they are added to your timeline so you can keep an overview of the dishes that they're right in the night to wake up or dishes that you've recently discovered.
Nike + GPS: Share with your friends the goals you set yourself and your favorite walking routes through apps like Nike + GPS on your Timeline can be seen every time you start your round and finished.
The Guardian: Guardian Once you've added to your Timeline and "sharing" turned on, you can share articles that you read on your Timeline. If you choose an article to share, you can X's The Guardian, or delete your Timeline Acitivity through your login.
Gogobot (travel) Gogobot Add to your timeline in order to talk about your best vacations and travel and to collect ideas for destinations where you still want to go.
Managing apps has improved
Facebook has also made improvements to the install screen apps, so you can decide how you connect with the app. On the screen you should see a list of descriptions of the app, the data that the app asks for and pictures of the app on your Timeline as it will be seen. The new screen also shows friends who have the app installed. Some consents are now optional and you can now choose not to provide certain information if it is not necessary for the app to function (this can be done by clicking on the cross).
If you have consented to an app on your Timeline to appear, it will seamlessly make updates when you use the app. You can control what someone sees on your activity on the App Settings page, where your preferences for each app can give.
And we're not there yet
That is the end is not finished. Besides the completely new personal profile, there are two farm-fresh yesterday, launched new functionalities.
Activity Log
Facebook Introduces Activity Log, a private resource where you can see what you do and share on Facebook, in the present and the past. Here you can delete messages, or hide your Timeline remove apps. You can find your Activity Log by clicking on your Timeline.
Recommendation Bar
Facebook also introduces a new feature that any website (eg in the sidebar) can add to the visitor easier for items to like, to see which products their friends read and an app to add to the Timeline with articles they are reading.
Will it ever stop? Another new change on the part of Facebook! But this time something completely different. What do you think, this is a new profile improvement over the previous? And would it also apply to Facebook Pages?
