A remarkable statement by the U.S. International Trade Commission: the trade organization last night determined that some HTC smartphones are no longer mat sales in the U.S.. There is also an import ban. HTC, according to the ITC a patent by Apple violated. These Patent No. 5,946,647 ("System and method for performing an action on a structure in computer-generated data"). The import and sales ban is on April 19, 2012, so that HTC still has time remaining inventory to sell through the providers. Also, the boss of the ITC ruling has to stop, something that rarely happens. Another option is that before April 19 HTC software updates for certain devices in favor, although not so clear whether the violation is resolved.Furthermore, the decision not to all devices, but only a selection. Which devices really matters is not the decision of the ITC to distract but according to The Verge is about Android devices from version 1.6 to 2.2. For popular devices like the HTC Droid Incredible has been an update to 2.3 available, so they may come out in the sales ban.
The ruling tonight is only to do with this one patent, not with another patent (6,343,263) with HTC earlier also was guilty of patent infringement. During the case, Apple had also suggested two more patents, but it was ITC determined that HTC makes no infringement. HTC complained to Apple vice versa, but has left Apple's favour.
HTC gave in response to the statement that they have prepared this statement and an alternative technique to work.
